Today's piece of media is also American produced, but it planted the seed for me to begin researching the history of Geisha/Geiko and understanding the role they may have had during the second world war. This film, Memoirs of A Geisha, led me to begin understanding the importance of kimono patterns and the materials they were made of and how those two elements taken together would signify who's family you came from.
